The military council has been conducting military service training courses since May 2024, now reaching batch 16. According to military sources, they are implementing incentive programs to convert new conscripts, who are originally meant to serve only two years, into permanent soldiers. These incentives include immediate promotion to corporal rank for degree holders and opportunities for high school graduates to apply for military academy after completing their two-year service period. The military circle reveals that graduate conscripts will be offered officer cadet training opportunities without having to take entrance examinations, requiring only recommendations from their respective units. Additionally, high school and middle school graduates among the soldiers are promised positions as senior technical sergeants and clerical staff.
The military sources indicate that basic education level conscripts are being offered opportunities to transfer to the navy and air force as technical personnel. They are also conducting motivational sessions promising benefits including salary, service benefits, accommodation in military quarters, and free medical care for those who continue serving after their initial two-year period. A soldier from the 13th batch of conscripts expressed skepticism about whether they would actually be allowed to leave after two years, noting that the military is offering extensive benefits packages to encourage continued service. The military council has been implementing these recruitment strategies since activating the Military Service Law on February 10, 2024, followed by the commencement of training courses in May of the same year.
The incentive program includes promises of career advancement opportunities, with degree holders being told they can apply for officer cadet training immediately upon recommendation from their units, without having to go through standard examination processes. For those with basic education qualifications, opportunities are being offered to become technical specialists in various military branches, including positions as senior clerical staff with potential postings to military attaché offices abroad. The military council continues to expand these incentive programs as part of their strategy to maintain and increase their forces, though there are concerns among conscripts about the actual implementation of these promises and whether they will truly have the option to leave after their mandatory service period.
