The Karenni Revolutionary Forces successfully captured a military council guard post in Bawlakhe, Karenni State, resulting in more than 20 military casualties and the seizure of over 15 weapons along with ammunition, as confirmed by KA Military Chief Colonel Bone Naing. The offensive operation was launched around 7 AM on May 22, targeting the guard post in Yay Ni Pauk village, which was protecting the military council’s strategic hill base in Bawlakhe.
During the battle, resistance forces visually confirmed at least 20 military council soldier casualties and captured more than 15 weapons along with ammunition. The military council responded with seven airstrikes during the operation, making it difficult to determine the exact number of casualties, with the possibility of the death toll being higher, according to the Military Chief. Additionally, the military council forces conducted five artillery strikes using point-blank weapons during the confrontation.
The Yay Ni Pauk guard post is located on the eastern bank of the Salween River near Bawlakhe town, and revolutionary forces continue their offensive operations against remaining military council outposts in the area. Currently, Bawlakhe hosts several military council units, including Infantry Battalions 429, 430, and 337, along with additional reinforcements from battalions under the Strategic Operations Command-2 based in Shan State. This successful operation marks a significant military victory for revolutionary forces in Karenni State, demonstrating their growing capability to challenge the military council’s control in the region.
