According to today’s midday news on May 21, military council leader Min Aung Hlaing has blamed people leaving the country for various reasons for the rise in foreign exchange rates. While people are forced to flee abroad for economic, security, educational, and other reasons due to the military council’s oppression following the coup, he deliberately ignored these facts and instead shifted blame onto the civilians.
In Banmaw City, Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) shot down a military council helicopter, which was confirmed by revolutionary forces with photographic and video evidence. However, the military council, as per their usual practice, falsely claimed that the helicopter crashed due to mechanical failure. This kind of concealment of truth and dissemination of false information is a regular practice of the military council.
In Mahaaungmyay Township, Mandalay, residents had to evacuate to safety after a building, which was already unstable due to earthquake damage, further collapsed following heavy rainfall. The situation has raised concerns about public safety due to natural disasters and infrastructure damage. However, the military council continues to fail in providing necessary assistance for the safety and security of civilians.
