A representative from the Thaung Tha Township People’s Movement Committee has confirmed that the military council is conducting daily aerial bombardments using drones on villages in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. These aerial attacks are being carried out by drones from the Meiktila Air Base, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. According to detailed records from the first week of June, the main targets of these attacks have been Than Bo Village (New), Na Bu Kyin Village, Htauk Sha Kyin Village, and the village tracts of Ma Gyi Cho and Simi Kan.
Due to these military council aerial attacks, local civilians are facing difficulties even sleeping at night and are forced to flee to safer locations. Specifically, on June 3rd, 17 bombs were dropped on the eastern part of Than Bo Village (New). On June 4th, 11 bombs were dropped near Na Bu Kyin and Htauk Sha Kyin villages. On June 6th, attacks were conducted on Ma Gyi Cho and Simi Kan village tracts, followed by another attack on June 7th where 11 more bombs were dropped on the eastern part of Than Bo Village, according to documented records.
These systematic aerial attacks by the military council have severely disrupted the daily lives of local residents, who are living in constant fear and anxiety. They are unable to sleep safely in their own homes and must constantly seek shelter elsewhere. However, the Thaung Tha Township People’s Movement Committee reports that there have been no casualties so far. The committee has warned that these continuous aerial attacks appear to be part of a psychological warfare campaign by the military council against civilians, and local residents must remain extremely vigilant. The military council’s targeting of civilian areas during sleeping hours has been particularly noted as a deliberate tactic to instill fear in the local population.
