Three military council soldiers were killed and three vehicles were destroyed when resistance forces attacked a military convoy transporting copper on the Monywa-Pathein road in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred around 9 PM on April 2nd, when joint forces from the Me Myaung People’s Defense Force and Brother Defence Force carried out a mine attack near Yamar Bridge on the military convoy consisting of six vehicles carrying copper from the Wanbao company.
According to a representative from the Me Myaung People’s Defense Force, the attack successfully destroyed three vehicles and killed three military council soldiers. Following the attack, military council troops reportedly fired indiscriminately along both sides of the road. The resistance force spokesperson also mentioned their need for more explosives to continue manufacturing mines, requesting support from the public for their operations.
Such attacks have become increasingly common in the Sagaing Region, as resistance forces target the military council’s economic interests. The attacks are motivated by the military council’s ongoing oppression of local civilians and their illegal exploitation of natural resources. The resistance forces continue their efforts to disrupt the military council’s operations and economic activities in the region, while the military council responds with violence against civilian populations and continues its unauthorized extraction and sale of natural resources.
