
According to local sources, the military council’s brutal operations in Yesagyo Township, Magway Region, have resulted in the deaths of 18 innocent civilians and the destruction of nearly 400 homes through arson. Beginning at 6:30 AM on March 2, military forces comprising approximately 200 soldiers from Pakokku Division 101 and Yesagyo-based battalions 256, 257, and 258 entered Myaysunhtaw village in the river island area and systematically burned down houses within the village.
The military forces continued their destruction until March 4 in Myaysunhtaw village, burning more than 270 houses. On March 5, they proceeded to enter Zayabni village, where they destroyed 68 houses through arson. Later that evening, they invaded Thagaunglayvillage and burned down over 20 houses, bringing the total number of destroyed homes to more than 358 across the three villages.
During their raids on the villages, the military council forces brutally killed innocent civilians, including elderly residents. Among the victims from Myaysunhtaw village were U Han Tin (over 70 years old), U Htay Myint (60 years old), U Thanmani (88 years old), Daw Than Pyay (60 years old), Daw Hla Ngwe (86 years old), U Kyaw Htay (67 years old), U Aung Myint (69 years old), Ko Thant Zin (35 years old), and Ko Aung Linn Naing (40 years old). Additional victims from Malaka Chan village and Thagaunlay village brought the total death toll to 18 civilians.
Currently, the military council forces are returning to the villages they previously burned, using trucks to loot remaining civilian property and transport it to Myin village and Pyusawthi village daily. They have also raided Bisapkone village and continue to steal property. The military forces maintain their operations from their bases in Myin village and Pyusawthi village, continuing their raids on surrounding villages.
