
The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has officially reported that civilian homes were damaged in Namkham town, northern Shan State, which is under TNLA control, due to artillery attacks by the military council forces. In Ta’ang Region Military Command 3 territory, despite the absence of any active fighting in Namkham town, the military council deliberately fired five howitzer shells, resulting in damage to two residential houses.
On June 16 at 5:08 PM, of the artillery shells fired by military council forces, three exploded in the Railway Quarter area, while the remaining two shells landed and detonated in the forest area below Kyauk-gu Monastery. Additionally, fighting broke out between military council forces and the TNLA in Umhtwee and Yaymankan villages, during which the military council forces launched attacks using nine artillery shells and twenty-six drone-dropped bombs.
Although the military council has declared a ceasefire for the entire month of June, they are reinforcing their troops and launching offensives to encircle Namkham town from multiple directions, including from Kan Gyi village in the Southern Camp area, from Pyin Oo Lwin’s Ban Bwe area, and from the Namkham Gyi area of the Southern Camp region, according to local sources. Furthermore, the military council continues to conduct airstrikes on TNLA-controlled townships, with fighter jets bombing near Man Sar village at the border of Namtu and Kutkai townships around 4:30 PM on June 16, as confirmed by local media outlets.
