The military forces and Pa-O National Organization (PNO) militia launched drone and artillery attacks in the earthquake-affected Inle region of Nyaungshwe Township, Southern Shan State. On March 31 at around 6 AM, the military and PNO forces conducted eight separate attacks using drones and heavy weapons on villages in the southern Inle region, destroying two civilian homes. Later that evening around 6 PM, they launched six more attacks, resulting in the destruction of another house, according to a representative from the Inle Public Movement Group.
The Inle region has recently suffered from earthquake damage, with numerous casualties among civilians and extensive destruction to pagodas, temples, and residential buildings. However, instead of providing aid to earthquake victims, the military council and PNO forces continue to launch daily attacks using heavy weapons and drones, as reported by the Inle Human Rights Group. Officials indicate that they are deliberately targeting villages where people have already been displaced by military operations.
Simultaneously, in Kyaikhto Township of Mon State, military forces’ artillery attacks resulted in injuries to a 70-year-old man named U San Mye, who was wounded in the shoulder. The incident occurred on March 29 at approximately 10:47 PM when military troops stationed on a hill near Wa City’s Letpanhtaik village fired artillery into Kha Ywe village. According to the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Command, the military council’s continuous artillery and drone attacks in the Doo Tha Htoo District have resulted in significant losses of civilian lives and property, forcing residents to live in constant fear and terror.
