The Karen National Union (KNU) Central Committee has reported that villages in Nyaunglebin District, Bago Region, have been subjected to drone and artillery attacks by the military council forces, resulting in the destruction of civilian homes and monasteries, as well as the arbitrary arrest of one civilian. These attacks occurred between April 8 and April 11. According to the report, military troops from Infantry Battalion 264 fired two 120mm artillery shells at Taungkin village on April 8 at around 9:45 PM, with the shells striking a monastery and causing significant damage to the buildings within the compound.
On April 9 at approximately 10:00 PM, troops from Infantry Battalion 264 launched another attack, this time targeting Thawlukho village, Kaukmayoe village, and Pantagone village with four 120mm artillery shells. The attack resulted in damage to one house in Thawlukho village. Later that same night, at 9:48 PM, the military council forces conducted drone strikes on Kywetkwin village, destroying two residential houses. The attacks continued on April 11, when military forces carried out additional drone strikes near the Kwinseik village intersection, causing explosions that damaged two more houses.
In a separate incident on April 10 at around 6:30 PM, soldiers from Infantry Battalion 207, based in Thayazayat, arbitrarily arrested Ko Zin Min Htike, a 30-year-old rubber tapper working in Thanmanzayat, at the local market. The military council forces continue to target civilian infrastructure and conduct arbitrary arrests, causing significant damage to local communities and displacing residents. The systematic nature of these attacks, using both artillery and drone warfare, has resulted in the destruction of religious buildings and civilian homes, demonstrating the ongoing violence against civilian populations in the region.
