
Four civilians were killed in airstrikes conducted by the military council forces on villages in southern Kalay Township, Sagaing Region. The attacks occurred over two consecutive days on April 26 and 27, with fighter jets and Y12 aircraft from the military council’s Meiktila Air Base targeting multiple villages. Local residents reported numerous civilian casualties and injuries resulting from these attacks.
On the first day of attacks, April 26, the military council forces targeted Nat Chaung and Nat Myaung villages using two fighter jets that dropped six bombs, while a Y12 aircraft dropped more than thirty bombs. These attacks resulted in the death of three civilians and left many others injured. Local residents emphasized that there were no active conflicts in the area when the military systematically targeted the entire village in these bombing runs.
The second day of attacks occurred on April 27 at 8:30 AM, when military aircraft from the Meiktila Shanywele Air Base, including one fighter jet and one Y12 aircraft, conducted strikes on Aung Chan Thar and Ngazar villages. During these attacks, one civilian riding a motorcycle was killed, and several cattle were also killed. Local sources confirmed that a large number of bombs were used in this attack as well. The military council’s actions represent a continuation of aerial attacks on civilian areas without any active fighting in the region.
