Civilian casualties have been reported following military airstrikes conducted by the military council forces in Mogok and Kyaukme cities in northern Shan State. On July 8th, around 9 AM, the military council simultaneously launched aerial attacks on both cities, which are currently under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). In Mogok, a 500-pound bomb was dropped near the Gaungba Valley School in the western part of the city, resulting in at least three civilian deaths, according to local sources.
The bombing caused extensive damage to residential buildings and resulted in numerous injuries. Local residents reported that bodies remain trapped under the collapsed structures, and due to the school’s proximity to the bombing site, there are concerns about potential casualties among students and civilians. Sources indicate that the death toll may rise as rescue operations continue in the affected areas.
Additionally, the military council conducted two separate airstrikes on the Township Administrative Office located along the Kaung Et village road near Peace Hill in Kyaukme. Local residents from Kyaukme confirmed that there may be casualties and injuries in this area as well. It is worth noting that during the previous month of June, the military council carried out multiple aerial attacks on Kyaukme city, resulting in at least five civilian deaths and numerous injuries, according to documented records.
