Revolutionary news sources have confirmed that the military council forces are conducting continuous airstrikes in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, and Paungde Township, Bago Region. On March 30th evening, the military council forces launched drone attacks on Kulaba village in Kyaukphyu Township, resulting in the destruction of local residents’ homes and businesses. This attack targeted a civilian area where no fighting was taking place, indicating a deliberate assault on non-military targets.
In Paungde Township, Pyay District, Bago Region, near Letyarkone village in Thetpot village tract, the military council also conducted airstrikes using fighter jets despite the absence of any active conflict. On March 23rd night, they targeted a People’s Defense Force training ground with two fighter jets, conducting five separate bombing runs with five bombs per run, totaling 25 bombs. This attack resulted in the death of one civilian and one PDF member, while 111 civilians and revolutionary forces members were injured.
Furthermore, on March 24th, additional airstrikes were carried out both in the morning and evening, including attacks using mechanized parachute bombs throughout Paungde Township. However, during these second wave of attacks, no casualties were reported among civilians or revolutionary forces members. These aerial attacks on civilian-populated areas constitute violations of international humanitarian law and could be classified as war crimes. The military council’s continued use of airpower against civilian targets demonstrates a pattern of deliberate attacks on non-military objectives, causing significant civilian casualties and destruction of civilian infrastructure.
