The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages located between Thone Pa Pin and Kyauk Gyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These airstrikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
During the attacks, local residents were forced to flee into forests and safer locations for their survival, making it currently impossible to determine the exact extent of damage and the number of casualties. According to a local resident’s account, the aircraft conducted continuous bombing throughout the day, starting from the morning hours. The ongoing airstrikes have severely disrupted daily life in the area, with residents unable to continue their regular activities due to safety concerns.
Prior to this incident, on March 6, another airstrike by the military council forces had already resulted in the deaths of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyauk Gyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khine Oo, age 53, from Myaungzar Taw village. Additionally, three other civilians were injured in that attack. The consecutive airstrikes have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local residents, who are now forced to abandon their homes and livelihoods to seek safety in other locations, unable to conduct their daily activities due to the constant threat to their lives.
