
The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages located between Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas, according to local residents. These aerial attacks resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
The exact number of civilian casualties from the attacks remains unconfirmed. Local residents have been forced to flee into forests and safer locations due to the airstrikes. According to a local resident, the military aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids throughout the day, specifically targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby communities. The ongoing attacks have severely disrupted civilian life in the area, with residents unable to return to their homes due to safety concerns.
Prior to these latest attacks, on March 6, military airstrikes in the same area had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. Additionally, three other civilians were injured in those attacks. The military council’s continued aerial bombardment has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among local residents, who now face daily concerns about their safety and security in the region.
