
The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages located between Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These airstrikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and numerous civilian homes in the area.
During the attacks, local civilians were forced to flee into forests and safer locations to protect their lives. The exact extent of civilian casualties remains unconfirmed at present. According to a local resident’s account, the airstrikes began in the morning and continued relentlessly throughout the day until evening. The continuous bombardment has severely disrupted daily life in the affected areas and created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the local population.
Prior to these attacks, similar airstrikes were conducted on March 6, resulting in the deaths of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. Additionally, three other civilians sustained injuries during these earlier attacks. The ongoing aerial assaults have caused significant destruction to civilian infrastructure and continue to pose a severe threat to the safety and well-being of local residents, who are living in constant fear of further attacks.
