The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that buildings and properties were destroyed by fire after the terrorist military conducted airstrikes on villages in Kyaukkyi Township, Bago Region. On April 29, between 5:50 PM and 6:10 PM, the military forces carried out aerial attacks using MI-35, Y-12, and fighter jets on areas including Nyonyathu, Paw Paw Plo, Law Mu Thaw, Law Mu Pe, and Mawlay in Kyaukkyi Township. The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of Saw Sap Le’s house, motorcycle, warehouse, and temporary shelters in Law Mu Thaw village, which were burned to ashes.
Frequent clashes have been occurring between the military council forces and revolutionary forces led by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) in Lay Do Township, Saw Htee Township, and Mu Township within the Nyaunglebin District. Due to significant casualties suffered by the military council forces in these battles, they have been deliberately targeting civilian residential areas that are not involved in the fighting, using heavy weapons, drones, and aircraft for attacks. These attacks have caused widespread fear and displacement among innocent civilians.
As a result of these intentional attacks by the terrorist military, civilians are living in constant fear and anxiety, while residents from villages near the conflict areas are forced to flee to safer locations. The number of internally displaced persons continues to increase daily, with urgent humanitarian assistance needed according to local sources. The terrorist military’s deliberate attacks on civilian lives and properties, showing complete disregard for civilian safety, have not only disrupted the daily lives of local residents but also placed them in life-threatening situations. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis in the region, with civilians facing both immediate security threats and long-term displacement challenges.
