
Local residents report that the military council continues to conduct airstrikes and drone attacks on civilian villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State. Clashes between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) are ongoing in various locations around Kyaukphyu Township, including Kywadein, Sinmaw, Pyeisaykai, Leipchamaw, near the No. 32 Police Battalion, and around the Danyawaddy Naval Headquarters. Even during periods when AA military activities have subsided, the military council continues to repeatedly bomb civilian residential areas, according to local residents.
On July 30 at around 11 AM, the military council conducted an airstrike on Thadutthein village in Minrap district, dropping two bombs that damaged monastery buildings, including the main building, monks’ quarters, ordination hall, and dharma hall, though no casualties were reported. Additionally, on July 23, the military council’s airstrikes on Kyaukpyauk and Kulaba villages resulted in damage to monasteries and injured a 93-year-old monk and U Maung Than Shwe, age 55. The monk from Kyaukpyauk village and U Maung Than Shwe from Kulaba village sustained injuries to their arms, faces, and backs.
On the evening of July 21, a heavy artillery shell from the military council exploded in front of the Mayphon Myoram Hotel in Kyaukphyu town, causing damage to the hotel’s windows. While fighting has subsided in Kyaukphyu Township, sources confirm that the Arakan Army (AA) has taken control of several military outposts in the previous month, including Leipchamaw military outpost, Hnamzet Taung military outpost, and Minwa Taung military outpost.
