
A representative from Voice Of Mandalay has confirmed that the military council is systematically attacking villages in Myittha Township, Mandalay Region, using aircraft and heavy weapons. Fighting broke out in the eastern part of Myittha Township on May 23, with fighter jets from the Tada-U Air Base conducting offensive operations. At 7:22 AM, a fighter jet conducted two machine gun attacks on areas where fighting was occurring.
Subsequently, at 9:56 AM, another airstrike was carried out twice by a fighter jet, followed by two more airstrikes after 12 noon. At 3:45 PM, the military council conducted bombing raids with fighter jets and machine gun attacks on areas where battles were taking place. The area around Taungkangyin village was also subjected to indiscriminate artillery fire around 1 PM.
According to the Voice Of Mandalay representative, these attacks have resulted in civilian casualties, though the exact numbers cannot yet be confirmed. Local residents have been forced to flee to safety as fighting continues in the area. The military council’s airstrikes and artillery attacks have also caused destruction to civilian homes and buildings in the region. The ongoing attacks have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians continue to seek shelter from the military council’s offensive operations.
