Two civilians were injured and temple buildings were damaged when the terrorist military conducted an airstrike on the temple compound in Sintgaing village, Wetlet Township, Sagaing Region. According to local sources, a fighter jet from Tada-U Air Base conducted two airstrikes on Sintgaing village around 9:25 AM on March 20. The attacks were estimated to have used 100-pound bombs, resulting in damage to one temple building and non-life-threatening injuries to two civilians.
While the military council claims to be religiously devout, in reality they continue to target temples and innocent civilians. The airstrike on the temple compound constitutes a war crime, with military council forces repeatedly violating international law through brutal attacks on civilians. Local residents say these attacks on innocent people and religious buildings have only increased public anger and hatred toward the military council. The targeting of religious sites and civilians demonstrates the military’s complete disregard for both human life and religious sanctity.
Airstrikes by the terrorist military have become frequent occurrences in Sagaing Region, resulting in continuous civilian casualties. The military particularly targets villages and populated areas, using the presence of People’s Defense Forces as justification for attacking civilians. These attacks have forced local residents to flee their homes, leading to significant humanitarian challenges including food shortages and displacement. The military council’s continued targeting of civilian areas represents an ongoing pattern of human rights violations and has created a severe humanitarian crisis in the region, with displaced civilians facing dire circumstances as they struggle to secure basic necessities while avoiding military attacks.
