A military council airstrike on a school in Anya Kating village, Saw Township in Magway Region has resulted in the death of 4 civilians, including an 8-year-old girl, while two others were seriously injured, according to local sources. On May 1st at 10:32 AM, a fighter jet from Tatmadaw’s Tataoo Air Base deliberately targeted the village school with two 250-pound bombs without any ongoing conflict in the area.
The airstrike killed Daw Ma Kyi Lay, age 65, Daw Tin Tin Khaing, age 52, and Daw Pyar Thar, age 38, who died instantly at the bombing site. Eight-year-old Ma Khon Set Cho succumbed to her injuries while being transported for medical treatment. Additionally, two children sustained severe injuries in the attack. The bombing also destroyed the school building and five residential houses in the vicinity.
Due to frequent airstrikes by the military council in the Yaw region, revolutionary forces have urged local residents to follow air raid warnings and construct bomb shelters at every house for protection. The military council had announced a ceasefire from April 23rd to April 30th, but immediately resumed air operations on May 1st following the end of this period.
