The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) reported on July 18 that an airstrike by the military council on Kyaukme town in northern Shan State injured an 87-year-old civilian and damaged eight houses. The incident occurred at 9:48 AM on July 18, when military council forces conducted an unprovoked airstrike on Upper Kyushauk village in Kyaukme Township using fighter jets, dropping two 250-pound bombs.
The military council has been conducting frequent airstrikes in Kyaukme Township even in the absence of active fighting. On July 13, they carried out multiple airstrikes at 6:09 AM, 6:14 AM, and 6:19 AM, targeting Peinne Hill, Maung Kaung Mu village, and Basic Education School No. 13 near Man Nar-Kyauk Taung area with 500-pound bombs, resulting in damage to homes and school buildings.
Furthermore, on July 11, the military council conducted airstrikes at 3:09 AM, 3:14 AM, and 3:20 AM on Hotel Kolly, Kyaukme District Police Barracks, and the Police Station compound in Kyaukme town, using 500-pound bombs, which resulted in one civilian death. On July 8, they also dropped two 500-pound bombs near an oxygen plant in Peace Hill area of Kyaukme town, killing one civilian and injuring four others.
June also saw civilian casualties from military council airstrikes. On June 29, an airstrike near Kambawza Shan School on Panglong Road in Ward 1 of Kyaukme town injured two men and three women. Additional airstrikes on the town on June 27 and June 24 resulted in the deaths of five civilians. These continuous attacks demonstrate the military council’s pattern of conducting airstrikes on civilian areas without military engagement, resulting in significant civilian casualties and property damage.
