The terrorist military council’s airstrike on Indaw Town Monastery has resulted in two civilian deaths and eight injuries. On April 1st, between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, two military aircraft dropped four bombs directly on the town monastery. The aerial attack caused fires that destroyed the town monastery, dining hall, and dharma hall, while also damaging the Buddha statue, town hall, and Dhamma Mandaing monastery.
According to local sources, while there were no active battles in the Indaw area, the military council continued to conduct airstrikes. The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) confirmed that the military council only maintains one remaining base in the region, with frequent skirmishes occurring, while aircraft continue surveillance and bombing operations. Colonel Naw Bu, spokesperson for the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), revealed that despite declaring a ceasefire, the military council has violated its own announcement by continuing attacks.
Local sources report that even as the Indaw region suffers from earthquake damage, the military council has failed to provide effective assistance and rescue operations for civilians, instead continuing to conduct airstrikes on civilian areas. The military’s poor management during the earthquake crisis, lack of compassion for the people, and failure to provide timely rescue operations have resulted in preventable deaths. Although the military council announced a ceasefire from April 2nd to April 22nd, revolutionary forces and the National Unity Government have reported that the junta continues to conduct offensive operations and airstrikes throughout the country.
