The military council conducted an unprovoked aerial bombing using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Thee Khaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulting in the death of three buffaloes and forcing local residents to flee to safety. The airstrike occurred around 5 PM on March 8, with bombs falling outside the village area, fortunately resulting in no civilian casualties according to local residents. The deliberate bombing took place despite there being no active fighting in the area.
The military council’s airstrike destroyed a fuel shop near the Kokko tree intersection at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village and killed three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in the farmland near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. The bombing created large craters in the targeted areas, and one buffalo was found dead after being thrown onto and caught in a tree due to the explosion’s impact. The incident has caused significant damage to civilian property and livestock in an area where there was no military engagement.
Currently, most residents from Kwin Gyi village, which has approximately 200 households, have been forced to flee their homes in fear of further military council airstrikes. Despite the absence of any combat activities, the military council’s deliberate targeting of areas near civilian settlements has resulted in the destruction of lives and property, creating a situation where local residents must abandon their homes and seek safety elsewhere. The ongoing threat of aerial attacks has created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the civilian population, who continue to suffer the consequences of the military council’s aggressive actions against its own people.
