According to local residents, a military council airstrike using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Thee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in a buffalo being thrown and killed after getting caught in a tree. The incident occurred on March 8 at 5 PM when the military council conducted an unprovoked bombing raid near Kwin Gyi village. While the bombs landed outside the village area, avoiding civilian casualties, the explosions created large craters in the ground, as reported by local residents.
According to a Kwin Gyi villager, one bomb fell near a road junction by a coconut tree at the village entrance, causing a fuel shop to catch fire and killing three buffaloes. Another bomb landed in a field near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. The villager stated that large craters were formed where the bombs landed, and they were fortunate that the bombs did not fall within the village itself.
Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s airstrikes. Local sources report that the military council deliberately targets civilian areas even without active conflict, resulting in the loss of lives, property, and forcing residents to evacuate their homes due to security concerns. The ongoing military attacks have created a situation where civilians must abandon their homes and seek safety elsewhere, according to local residents.
