Local residents reported that a military council airstrike using 500-pound bombs near Kwin Gyi village in Thee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, resulted in a buffalo being thrown and killed after getting caught in a tree. The incident occurred on March 8 at 5 PM when the military council conducted an unprovoked bombing raid near Kwin Gyi village. While the bombs fell outside the village area, avoiding human casualties, three buffaloes were killed and a fuel shop was destroyed in the fire caused by the bombing.
According to a local resident, the military council dropped one bomb near the intersection by the Kokko tree at the entrance of Kwin Gyi village, and another bomb landed in the farmland near an agricultural center between Kwin Gyi village and Pauk Kone village. The bombing created large craters in the targeted areas, and the villagers considered themselves fortunate that the bombs did not fall directly within the village. Kwin Gyi village, home to approximately 200 households, has seen most of its residents forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s aerial attacks.
The military council’s airstrikes have severely impacted the lives and properties of local civilians, forcing them to flee their homes in fear. Local residents reported that despite the absence of active fighting in the area, the military council deliberately targets civilian areas, causing significant disruption to daily life and creating severe hardships for the local population. The ongoing aerial attacks have devastated the residents’ livelihoods and left them facing considerable challenges in meeting their basic needs for food, shelter, and security.
