
According to local residents and Karenni refugee aid workers, the military council conducted airstrikes in the vicinity of Cherry Hill in the western part of Demoso Township, Karenni State. On July 17, around 1 PM, the military council’s aircraft conducted low-flying operations and dropped 4 bombs in the area. While there were no civilian casualties from the airstrike, several residential buildings sustained damage.
The military council’s airstrikes in Karenni State have become increasingly frequent, with deliberate targeting of civilian areas even in the absence of active fighting. In recent attacks on the Mawchi area of Hpruso Township on July 10 and 14, airstrikes resulted in the deaths of 13 civilians and injured more than 20 others.
Additionally, on June 25 around 11 AM, the military council conducted an airstrike on Taung Paw village in the Mawchi area of Hpruso Township, despite there being no active conflict in the area. The bombs struck a mining operation site and a general store. This attack resulted in 7 civilian casualties and numerous injuries, according to local sources. These targeted attacks against civilians by the military council have caused widespread fear among local residents, leading to a daily increase in the number of internally displaced persons.
