In Yetarshay Township of Bago Region, an airstrike by the military council forces resulted in injuries to one monk and the destruction of a monastery, a religious hall, and six houses, according to officials from the Royal Lightning Force. The attacks, which occurred on February 28, targeted civilian areas without any ongoing battles, demonstrating the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian populations.
The first airstrike occurred at 11:45 AM, targeting Pyitawkun village on the eastern bank of the Sittaung River, resulting in the destruction of five houses by fire. Later, at 5:40 PM, a second attack was launched on Gukyi village, where one monk sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and a monastery, a religious hall, and one house were destroyed by fire. While there were significant property damages, no civilian casualties were reported in these attacks.
Comrade Eve, the Information and Communication Officer of the Royal Lightning Force, revealed that these attacks are part of the military council’s strategy to control the population through fear. He explained that these actions are deliberately targeting communities that support the revolution, attempting to intimidate the public through acts of terror. The military council continues to commit war crimes against civilians in their effort to suppress resistance, but the public is urged to remain united in their struggle for liberation rather than submitting to fear. Those who must live under military council control are advised to exercise caution while the resistance continues its fight for freedom from military oppression.
