Houses were destroyed by fire in Letpanhlwa village, Sintguu Township, Mandalay Region, following an airstrike by the military council forces yesterday evening. According to a district PDF official who spoke to Yangon Modern News Agency, the terrorist military forces conducted an aerial bombardment of the village on March 31 at approximately 5:54 PM. The attack specifically targeted the Pyisoe Aung ward of Letpanhlwa village, resulting in the destruction of two houses and one hut by fire.
The military council’s air attack caused the entire village population to flee to safety. Fortunately, due to early warning systems and quick evacuation, no civilian casualties were reported in this incident. However, the attack caused significant property damage and forced the entire village population to abandon their homes. Local sources confirm that two residential buildings and one temporary shelter were completely destroyed in the fire caused by the bombing. A district PDF official stated, ‘The military conducted an aerial attack on Pyisoe Aung ward of Letpanhlwa village at 5:54 PM yesterday. Two houses and one hut were destroyed by fire. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties.’
This attack represents another instance of the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilian populations in Sintguu Township. The deliberate targeting of civilian residences constitutes a war crime, according to local residents. The area has experienced multiple similar attacks in the past, resulting in the destruction of civilian property and creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the local population. The international community’s intervention is needed to address these war crimes being committed against civilians by the military council, as demanded by local residents. The continued use of airstrikes against civilian targets demonstrates the military council’s disregard for civilian lives and property, forcing people to live in constant fear of future attacks.
