
The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages located between Thone Pa Pin and Kyauk Gyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These airstrikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
The exact extent of civilian casualties from these attacks remains unconfirmed. Currently, local residents have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer locations. According to a local resident, the airstrikes began in the morning and continued relentlessly throughout the day until evening. The attacks specifically targeted Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and nearby communities.
Prior to this attack, on March 6, another airstrike by the military council forces had resulted in the deaths of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyauk Gyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khine Oo, age 53, from Myaung Taw village. Additionally, three other civilians were injured in that attack. The ongoing aerial attacks have caused widespread fear among local residents, and the security situation in the area remains unstable. The continuous military actions have forced many villagers to abandon their homes and livelihoods, creating a humanitarian crisis in the affected areas.
