The military council forces conducted renewed air strikes on villages located between Thone Pa Pin and Kyauk Gyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These air strikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
The exact number of civilian casualties from the attacks remains unconfirmed at present. Due to the air strikes, local residents have been forced to flee into forests and safer locations fearing for their lives. According to a local resident, the military aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids starting from the morning, targeting Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and nearby villages in the area.
Prior to this attack, on March 6, military council forces’ air strikes had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyauk Gyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khine Oo, age 53, from Myaung Taw village. Three other civilians were also injured in those attacks. The continuous air strikes have severely disrupted the daily lives of local residents, who are living in constant fear and anxiety, according to local sources.
