The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages located between Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These airstrikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
The exact extent of civilian casualties from these attacks remains unconfirmed. Currently, local residents have been forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer locations. According to a local resident, the aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids starting from the morning that persisted until evening, targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby communities. The ongoing attacks have created a humanitarian crisis as civilians abandon their properties to escape the violence.
Additionally, on March 6, previous airstrikes by the military forces had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. Three other civilians were also injured in these attacks. These deliberate attacks by military council forces on civilian populations continue to result in loss of innocent lives and injuries to civilians, demonstrating an ongoing pattern of violence against the local population.
