The military council forces conducted renewed aerial attacks on villages located between Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The airstrikes, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas, according to local residents. These aerial attacks resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
Due to residents fleeing for safety during the attacks, the exact number of casualties and fatalities could not be immediately confirmed. According to a local resident, the military aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids throughout the day, specifically targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby communities. The ongoing airstrikes have forced villagers to seek shelter in safer locations, making it difficult to assess the full extent of damage and casualties in the affected villages.
Prior to this incident, on March 6, another airstrike by the military council forces had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. That attack also left three other civilians injured. The consecutive air strikes have caused widespread fear among local residents, who continue to flee their homes in search of safe shelter. The repeated attacks have significantly disrupted civilian life in the area, with many residents unable to return to their homes due to ongoing security concerns.
