
The military council forces conducted renewed air strikes on villages located between Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. According to local residents, the attacks began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment. The airstrikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
Local civilians have been forced to flee to safety due to fears for their lives from the attacks. The exact number of civilian casualties remains unconfirmed at present. According to a local resident, military aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids throughout the day, specifically targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby communities. The ongoing attacks have caused widespread destruction and displacement of local inhabitants who have had to seek shelter in safer locations.
Additionally, on March 6, previous air strikes by the military council forces resulted in the deaths of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. Three other civilians were also injured in these attacks. These brutal air strikes by the military council forces against civilian populations have resulted in significant loss of lives and destruction of property, severely impacting the local communities and their livelihoods.
