
The military council forces conducted renewed airstrikes on villages along the border of Thanatpin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas, according to local residents. The aerial bombardment resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
Local villagers have been forced to flee to safety due to fears for their lives from the attacks. The exact number of civilian casualties remains unconfirmed at present. According to a local resident, military aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids throughout the day, targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby communities. The ongoing attacks have caused widespread destruction and displacement of civilians in the affected areas.
Prior to these latest attacks, on March 6, military airstrikes had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungtaw village. Three other civilians were also injured in those attacks. The military council forces have been conducting frequent aerial attacks against civilian populations in the region, resulting in continued loss of lives and destruction of civilian property and infrastructure.
