
The military council forces conducted renewed air strikes on villages along the border of Thone Ta Pin and Kyauk Gyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyauk Gyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous aerial bombardment, according to local residents. These air strikes resulted in the destruction of a monastery and civilian homes in the area.
The extent of civilian casualties from the attacks remains unconfirmed. Due to the air strikes, local residents have been forced to flee into forests and safer locations fearing for their lives. According to a local resident, the aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids starting from the morning. He further stated that due to villagers having to evacuate to safety, the full extent of damage within the villages cannot yet be determined.
Prior to these attacks, on March 6, military council air strikes had already claimed the lives of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyauk Gyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungzar Taw village. Additionally, three other civilians were injured in those attacks. The military council forces continue to carry out persistent air strikes against civilian populations in the region.
