
According to a statement from the Karen National Union (KNU) Central Headquarters, military council forces conducted aerial bombardments and artillery attacks on villages in Nyaunglebin District, Bago Region, resulting in injuries to one civilian and the destruction of one house. These attacks occurred between May 3 and May 6.
In Mone Township, on May 3, troops from Infantry Battalion 60 launched attacks using 120mm artillery shells on the villages of Manikwin, Ngathweswut, and Yele. Subsequently, on May 5, soldiers from Infantry Battalion 439 fired two 120mm artillery shells at Phayalaha village, resulting in injuries to a 41-year-old woman named Ma Moe Thida who was struck by artillery fire.
On May 6, the military council’s air force conducted aerial attacks, dropping 24 bombs on several villages including Ywagyiain, Kyunkun, Myayarseinlay, East Taungsu, West Taungsu, Tamakyo, and Yanmyoaung. In Letdo Township, on May 4, troops from Infantry Battalion 264 attacked Yauktawkun village and Chaungwa village with 81mm artillery, resulting in the destruction of one house.
In Shwegyin Township, on May 3, a Y-12 aircraft from Taungoo Air Base dropped 33 bombs on Kwinseiklay Junction. On May 4, another aircraft from Taungoo Air Base dropped a 500-pound bomb near Thitayay village. Additionally, troops from Infantry Battalion 350 fired twenty 120mm artillery shells at Shanvillage. These continuous attacks demonstrate the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilian populations in the region.
