A representative from the Chindwin Riverbank Villages Strike Column has confirmed that houses were destroyed after the military council conducted aerial bombing raids on villages in Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region. The attacks occurred on the evening of June 14, when the military council’s armed forces dropped two bombs on villages in the northern part of Salingyi Township using mechanized aircraft.
The bombing resulted in damage to civilian homes and the death of five sheep, though civilian casualties were reported to be minimal, according to the strike column representative. Currently, the military council has been increasingly using mechanized aircraft to conduct bombing raids on villages. The frequency of these aerial attacks has particularly intensified during the current rainy season, with strikes being carried out both day and night whenever weather conditions are favorable.
These ongoing attacks have resulted in significant damage to civilian lives and property, causing widespread fear and anxiety among local residents. Local sources report that civilians are being forced to flee to safer areas due to the military council’s aerial bombardments. The continuous threat of airstrikes has severely disrupted normal life in the affected villages, with residents facing uncertainty about their safety and security. The military’s increasing reliance on aerial attacks has become a significant concern for communities in the region, as these indiscriminate bombings pose a constant threat to civilian infrastructure and lives.
