
The military council forces conducted renewed aerial attacks on villages located between Thone Daung Pin and Kyaukkyi townships in Bago Region. The attacks, which began on the morning of March 8 and continued until evening, targeted Kyaukkyi Pauk village and surrounding areas with continuous airstrikes, according to local residents. These aerial assaults resulted in the destruction of a monastery and numerous civilian homes in the area.
Local civilians have been forced to flee to safer locations due to fears for their lives from the attacks. Currently, the exact number of civilian casualties and deaths cannot be confirmed. According to a local resident, aircraft conducted continuous bombing raids starting from the morning, specifically targeting Kyaukkyi Pauk village and nearby rural communities. The ongoing attacks have created a situation of severe insecurity, forcing residents to abandon their homes and seek shelter in safer locations.
Prior to these attacks, on March 6, another aerial assault by the military forces had resulted in the deaths of three civilians: Daw Htwe, age 63, from Kyaukkyi Pauk village, and U Aung Myint Aye, age 55, and Daw Khin Oo, age 53, from Myaungdaw village. Additionally, three other civilians were injured in these earlier attacks. The consecutive aerial bombardments have created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among local residents, leading to widespread displacement as people continue to flee their homes in search of safety. The ongoing military actions have severely disrupted civilian life in the region, creating an unstable security situation that has forced many to become internally displaced persons.
