The terrorist military council conducted aerial bombardments on several locations in the northern part of Gangaw Township, Magway Region, as reported by Ko Ba Kaung from Yaw Alinn Tan. The attacks occurred around 8:30 PM on May 7, when two fighter jets from the military council’s Tatmadaw Air Base launched airstrikes on three different locations in northern Gangaw Township. Before the attacks, the military council cut off communication lines in the area. According to local sources, while communications were restored in the town area within hours, rural areas remained disconnected.
The military council is reportedly attempting to regain control of lost territories by launching aerial offensive operations. While the Yaw region is currently experiencing no ground battles and remains stable, the military council continues to conduct unilateral airstrikes. Local resistance organizations have advised residents to take necessary precautions against air raids and recommended that every household construct bomb shelters for protection. The military’s strategy appears to focus on using air superiority to attempt to regain control of territories they have lost.
Simultaneously, in Mandalay Region’s Sagaing Township, the military council conducted two rounds of airstrikes on Yay Htwet village at 12:07 PM on May 7, resulting in injuries to 10 civilians, as confirmed by the Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force. This attack follows a previous airstrike on the same village on April 19, which resulted in the deaths of more than 40 civilians. These continued aerial attacks on civilian areas demonstrate the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against its own people, particularly in areas where resistance to their rule remains strong. The pattern of cutting communications before launching attacks appears to be a deliberate strategy to prevent immediate reporting of casualties and damage.
