Multiple villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, have suffered extensive damage due to continuous aerial bombardment by the military council forces. On March 7 at approximately 2:00 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike using a fighter jet on Kwattin village in the Thitpoke Taung area, resulting in the destruction of at least 35 houses by fire. According to local residents, previous airstrikes had already targeted Ugyin village, and now Kwattin village has also come under attack. The continuous aerial assaults have left a trail of destruction across the region.
On March 6, Ugyin village endured two separate airstrikes, one at noon and another in the evening, carried out by fighter jets. These attacks led to the destruction of more than 170 houses. Fortunately, civilian casualties were avoided as local residents had evacuated the area more than ten days prior, anticipating the possibility of conflict. However, due to disrupted communication lines, detailed information about the current situation remains limited. The military council’s targeting of civilian areas has resulted in widespread destruction of homes and displacement of local communities.
The military council’s attacks have extended to other areas as well. In Sittwe Township, Wa village was targeted with drone strikes on March 6, resulting in the destruction of 35 houses. Ongoing clashes between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) continue throughout Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships, with the military council deliberately targeting civilian residences in their aerial bombing campaigns. The total damage from these attacks in Kyaukphyu Township alone has resulted in the destruction of more than 200 houses in Ugyin and Kwattin villages, highlighting the devastating impact of the military council’s offensive operations on civilian infrastructure and communities.
