Multiple villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, have suffered extensive damage as the military council continues its aerial bombardment campaign, resulting in the destruction of numerous residential buildings. On March 7 at approximately 2 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike using a fighter jet on Kwattin village in the Thitpoke Taung area, destroying at least 35 houses. According to local residents, the military council had previously conducted airstrikes on U Kyin village and has now extended its attacks to include Kwattin village.
While casualties were avoided due to residents having preemptively evacuated the area due to ongoing conflicts, the full extent of the damage remains unclear due to disrupted communication lines, according to a local resident. On March 6, during both noon and evening hours, the military council conducted two separate airstrikes on U Kyin village using fighter jets, resulting in the destruction of more than 170 houses. Local residents had already fled to safer locations several weeks prior due to the escalating conflicts in the region, which prevented any loss of life during these attacks.
The military council’s aerial attacks have resulted in the destruction of more than 200 houses across U Kyin and Kwattin villages in Kyaukphyu Township. Additionally, on March 6, the military council conducted a drone strike on Wa village in Sittwe Township, destroying 35 houses. Currently, fighting continues between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in both Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships, with the military council deliberately targeting civilian residences in their aerial bombing campaigns.
