Multiple villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, have suffered extensive damage as the military council continues its aerial bombardment campaign, resulting in the destruction of numerous residential buildings. On March 7 at approximately 2:00 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike using a fighter jet on Kwattin village in the Thitpoke Taung area, destroying at least 35 houses. According to local residents, previous airstrikes had already targeted Ugyin village, and now Kwattin village has also fallen victim to these attacks.
On March 6, Ugyin village was subjected to two separate airstrikes, one at noon and another in the evening, carried out by fighter jets, resulting in the destruction of more than 170 houses. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties as local residents had already evacuated the area more than ten days prior, anticipating potential conflict. The combined aerial attacks by the military council have led to the destruction of over 200 houses in both Ugyin and Kwattin villages in Kyaukphyu Township.
Additionally, on March 6, the military council conducted drone strikes on Wa village in Sittwe Township, destroying 35 houses. Currently, fighting continues between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in both Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships. Local sources confirm that the military council is deliberately targeting civilian residences in their ongoing aerial assault campaign. The systematic nature of these attacks demonstrates a clear pattern of the military council’s operations targeting civilian infrastructure, causing widespread destruction and displacement of local communities.
