Multiple villages in Rakhine State’s Kyaukphyu Township have suffered extensive damage from continuous aerial bombardments by the military council forces. On March 7 at approximately 2 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike using a fighter jet on Kwattin village in the Thitpoke Taung area, resulting in the destruction of at least 35 houses. According to local residents, previous airstrikes had already targeted Ugyin village, and now Kwattin village has also come under attack. The continuous aerial assaults have left a trail of destruction across these rural communities.
On March 6, Ugyin village endured two separate airstrikes by military council fighter jets, one at noon and another in the evening, leading to the destruction of more than 170 houses. Fortunately, there were no civilian casualties as local residents had already evacuated the area more than ten days prior, anticipating potential conflict. The combined aerial attacks on Ugyin and Kwattin villages in Kyaukphyu Township have resulted in the destruction of over 200 homes. The military council’s targeting of civilian areas has caused widespread displacement and destruction of civilian property.
Additionally, on March 6, the military council conducted drone strikes on Wa village in Sittwe Township, destroying 35 houses. Ongoing clashes continue between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in both Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships. Local sources report that the military council is deliberately targeting civilian residential areas with these aerial attacks, showing a pattern of systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure. The military council’s actions have led to widespread displacement and destruction of civilian properties, forcing many residents to flee their homes and seek safety elsewhere in the region.
