Multiple villages in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State, have suffered extensive damage due to continuous aerial bombardment by the military council forces. On March 7 at approximately 2:00 PM, the military council conducted an airstrike using a fighter jet on Kwattin village in the Oak Put Taung area, resulting in the destruction of at least 35 houses. According to local residents, previous airstrikes had already targeted U Kyin village, and now Kwattin village has also come under attack. The communication lines have been disrupted, making it difficult to assess the full extent of the damage and potential casualties.
On March 6, U Kyin village was subjected to two separate airstrikes by military council fighter jets, one at noon and another in the evening, leading to the complete destruction of more than 170 houses. Fortunately, villagers had preemptively evacuated the area due to ongoing conflicts, preventing any civilian casualties. The military council also carried out drone strikes on Wa village in Sittwe Township on March 6, destroying 35 houses. Currently, fighting continues between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in both Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships, with the military council deliberately targeting civilian homes in their aerial bombing campaigns.
The total destruction from the military council’s aerial attacks in Kyaukphyu Township has now exceeded 200 houses between U Kyin and Kwattin villages. These attacks appear to be part of a systematic campaign targeting civilian infrastructure, as the military council continues its offensive operations in the region. The situation has created a humanitarian crisis, with many residents forced to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer areas. The military council’s actions demonstrate a pattern of targeting civilian areas, causing widespread destruction of private property and disrupting the lives of local communities in Rakhine State.
