The military council conducted an aerial bombardment on Kwattin village in Rakhine State’s Kyaukphyu Township on March 7 at approximately 2 PM using a fighter jet. The attack resulted in the destruction of at least 35 houses in Kwattin village, according to local residents. The village, located in the Thetpoke Taung sub-township area, was targeted in this aerial assault. Local sources confirmed that there were no civilian casualties as residents had preemptively evacuated the area due to ongoing conflicts.
Additionally, on March 6, the military council carried out two separate aerial attacks on Ugyin village, one at noon and another in the evening. These attacks led to the destruction of more than 170 houses. According to local residents, villagers had fled to safer locations about 10 days prior to the attacks due to the anticipation of conflict, which prevented any civilian casualties. The military council also conducted a drone attack on Wa village in Sittwe Township on March 6, resulting in the destruction of 35 houses.
Currently, fighting continues between the military council forces and the Arakan Army (AA) in both Sittwe and Kyaukphyu townships. Local residents report that the military council is deliberately targeting civilian homes in their aerial bombardments. The military council’s aerial attacks have resulted in the destruction of more than 200 houses in Ugyin and Kwattin villages in Kyaukphyu Township, forcing local residents to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere. The situation has created a humanitarian crisis as civilians continue to be displaced from their homes due to the military council’s aggressive actions against civilian populations.
