In Thonepanlal village of Chaung-U Township, Sagaing Region, military council forces conducted an aerial attack using mechanized paratroopers, resulting in the death of three civilians, including a 10-year-old fourth-grade student, despite there being no ongoing conflict in the area. The incident, which occurred on the morning of May 10, also left two other civilians injured, according to local residents. At the time of the attack, villagers were going about their normal daily activities, and there was no military activity in the area.
Although the military council announced a temporary nationwide ceasefire from May 6 to May 31, in reality, they have continued to conduct airstrikes, drone bombings, and military operations throughout the country. The bombing of Thonepanlal village using paramotors not only contradicts the military council’s ceasefire declaration but also represents a deliberate attack on innocent civilians, as pointed out by local residents.
These aerial attacks have caused fear and anxiety among local residents, preventing them from carrying out their daily activities normally. The death of a school-aged child, in particular, has caused significant distress among the local community. According to statements from revolutionary forces, the military council has not ceased its operations even during the ceasefire period and continues to conduct military activities nationwide.
