The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has confirmed that the military council conducted aerial attacks on Kyaukme city in northern Shan State, dropping two 250-pound bombs from fighter jets on May 5. The attacks occurred between 11:15 and 11:20 AM, resulting in the destruction of two civilian homes, though fortunately no casualties were reported. This incident marks another escalation in the military council’s ongoing campaign of aerial bombardments in the region.
Additionally, on March 4, the military council carried out aerial attacks on Ward 7 in Naung Cho city and Thoneze village during the evening hours. The military council has been increasingly expanding its military presence in territories controlled by the Palaung State Liberation Front/Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA), conducting offensive operations and deliberately targeting civilian areas with airstrikes, even in locations where there is no active fighting taking place.
Due to these deliberate attacks on civilian populations, the TNLA has urged local residents to remain vigilant and follow air raid defense guidelines to protect themselves from aerial attacks. These brutal assaults by the military council not only violate international humanitarian law but also constitute war crimes through the intentional targeting of civilian areas and infrastructure. The military council’s actions continue to demonstrate a pattern of violence against its own people, with complete disregard for civilian safety and international conventions on warfare.
