According to local sources, after revolutionary forces captured the Border Guard Post 24 located at Pauntaung Nattip in Thilin Township, Magway Region, the military council responded with fighter jet airstrikes. On May 21, in the afternoon, revolutionary forces successfully attacked and seized control of the Border Guard Post 24, situated east of Kyin village at Pauntaung Nattip in Thilin Township. Following the capture, on May 22 at 3:37 AM and 3:43 AM, the military council conducted airstrikes using fighter jets, dropping a total of four 250-pound bombs, with two bombs per strike.
Local sources report that the guard post was previously manned by approximately 50 military council troops who would occasionally enter Kyin village. The exact details of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment seized during the revolutionary forces’ capture are yet to be officially announced by the fighting units. Before conducting the airstrikes, the military council’s aircraft conducted four reconnaissance flights over Thilin Township, Kyaukhtu area, and Mindat Township.
Additionally, the military council has been deliberately targeting villages in Pekon Township, located along the border of Karenni and Shan States, with heavy artillery. On May 19, around 11 PM, soldiers from Infantry Battalion 336 based in Pekon fired three artillery shells at villages on the eastern bank of Pekon town, despite there being no active fighting in the area. While there were no civilian casualties from this artillery attack, the shells landed in farmlands, destroying local farmers’ rice fields. The military council continues to conduct daily aerial attacks throughout the Yaw region, threatening the lives and property of local civilians, according to residents in the area.
