According to a representative from the Pyin Oo Lwin District People’s Defense Force (PDF), the military council conducted an aerial bombing attack at the entrance of Sintguu town in Mandalay Region. The attack occurred around midnight on April 20, 2024, targeting the area near the bridge at the town’s entrance. While no civilian casualties were reported, the bombing caused significant damage to trees and the surrounding environment.
The Pyin Oo Lwin District PDF official has warned local residents to take necessary precautions against the military council’s aerial attacks. Specifically, they have advised people to construct bomb shelters and remain vigilant of military council movements. Additionally, residents have been instructed to stay away from military council camp locations and maintain safe distances from their operations. The PDF has emphasized the importance of these preventive measures to ensure civilian safety in the face of increasing aerial threats.
Currently, the military council has been losing territorial control in many areas due to offensive operations by People’s Defense Forces. In response to these losses, they have been deliberately targeting civilian areas with airstrikes. These aerial attacks have frequently resulted in civilian casualties and injuries. As a result, local residents must remain extremely cautious and prioritize their safety measures. The military council’s increasing reliance on aerial warfare has created a dangerous environment for civilians, necessitating constant vigilance and preparation for potential attacks. The recent incident in Sintguu town serves as another example of the military council’s tactics of using airpower against civilian areas, even when there are no immediate military targets present.
