Houses in Taung Chamauk village, Taungthar Township, Mandalay Region, were destroyed by fire following an aerial bombardment by the military council forces, according to local residents. The incident occurred on the morning of April 27, when the military council conducted an airstrike on the village following clashes between resistance forces and military troops in the area.
Taung Chamauk village, which contains more than 130 households, suffered extensive damage from the military council’s aerial attack. When villagers attempted to extinguish the fires in their burning homes, military council soldiers opened fire on them, forcing the residents to flee to safety without being able to save their properties. Currently, military council troops remain positioned at the base of Taung Chamauk mountain, making it impossible to assess the full extent of damage within the village.
According to a local resident’s account, the military council’s aerial bombardment occurred after the fighting, resulting in fires that consumed nearly the entire village. When villagers tried to extinguish the fires, they were met with gunfire from military council troops, preventing any firefighting efforts. All villagers have now been forced to evacuate to safe locations, having lost their homes and possessions. Due to the continued presence of military council forces in the area, residents are unable to return to their village to assess the damage or salvage any remaining belongings.
